Back on track

I took my 3 tablespoons of ELOO last night.  Mixed with a little water it’s pretty painless.   It looks disgusting but if I close my eyes and drink it down I don’t really notice it.

Today I had a similar but smaller breakfast compared to yesterday and I’m still full at 11am.  Is it really the olive oil I took last night or is it a placebo effect?  Some SLD bloggers are expressing skepticism and I think that’s warranted given the lack of clinical trials.  I’m still unsure myself.   I know it’s helped me but I certainly haven’t seen the drastic effects some people have reported.  I simply stay full longer on less food and when I do get hungry it’s not the overpowering urge to eat that it once was.  The actual weight loss has been a bit disappointing, given that I no longer eat fast food lunches, candy bars or chips.  On the other hand I have been eating junk on the weekends, I think that has caused me to take 1 step back for every two steps forward.  I also stopped exercising for almost two weeks, for reasons that have nothing to do with the SLD.

The Shangri-La Diet has not been an “eat anything” diet, I still need to watch what I eat.  The main benefit for me has been the blunting of the hunger, it’s enabled me to make better choices.  Whether this is because of the “set point” theory, a placebo effect or just because I’m ingesting calories in a more spread out manner is irrelevant to me.  As long as I’m seeing a beneficial effect I’ll keep with it.

Eating junk on the weekend may be better for you than a strict caloric intake. Your metabolism slows down when you start eating less calories, so it’s better to “jump start” your metabolism on the weekends by eating more food. (They say increase your calories by 300-500 calories, twice a week).

For what it is worth, I’ve updated my best practices post and blogged some more.

How is it working for you?

I found that to be true as well. I still have to avoid ditto foods. They have an amazing and fairly instant effect in raising my set point.
